It is understood that the product has been genetically modified to tolerate herbicides and is also resistant to insects.
Previously, on March 20 and May 12, 2023, the Australia and New Zealand Food Standards Agency successively issued notices No. 235-23 and No. 241-23, of which the application No. A1270 applied for the approval of genetically modified corn strains DP51291 and DP915635 for food. It is understood that the two applications were submitted by Corteva Agriscience Australia Pty Ltd. The genetically modified corn lines DP51291 and DP915635 are resistant to herbicides and insects.

Earlier - on June 11, 2021, the Food Standards Agency of Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) issued a circular No. 159-21, intending to approve the use of genetically modified corn MON 95379 for food. The transgenic corn contains cry1Ab, cry1b.868, cry1be, cry1ca and cry1da_7 genes, and has the property of resisting lepidopteran pests. Full approval is expected to be completed in April 2022. Prior to this, the genetically modified maize MON 95379 was approved for food and feed in Brazil.
